Huntington Resources

Background

Huntington Resources is a repacking facility. It receives and sends hundreds of thousands of pounds of material monthly. Problem is: how do we keep track of all of it? Whether it be corporate inquiries about possible mistakes in shipping, or employees not knowing where to find certain material, reducing the unknowns on the floor of the warehouse was paramount.

Solution

Scholarshelf partnered with Huntington Resources to build multiple pieces of software. The first piece of software empowered the warehouse to track the incoming and outgoing material out of their long-term storage facilities. The second piece of software built and printed labels to place on pallets, bringing further clarity to the floor employees for how to pack the pallets.

Details

Huntington Resources has multiple long-term storage facilities. They need to make sure that the office staff is able to track the incoming and outgoing shipments in real time. Floor employees are able to update the dashboard for the office employees from miles away, reflected in milliseconds to the office. This increases visibility and clarity for locations that don't have on-site office workers.

Whenever a shipment comes in, the floor employee marks it as "in progress." Once the order has been received, and the details have been confirmed with the driver and against the expected material, the employee marks it as completed and correct. If there are any defects with the received material, the employee is able to mark it as a defect and instantly notify an office worker.

This eliminates the possibility of missed shipments. Office workers are able to schedule incoming and outgoing shipments weeks in advance, and floor employees are able to have clarity as to when they are needed at the gates.

Whenever the inevitable corporate inquiry comes, the office employees are able to point back to a defect in the received material.

Labeling Software

The second piece of software commissioned was a labelling software. Office workers take the details of a packing order and plug it into the program. This then creates a printable document that can be placed on a pallet. Floor workers no longer need to reference small text on a easily losable sheet of paper. Instead, the height of pallet and exact material is directly in front of them on the pallet.

This piece of software has singlehandedly eliminated all corporate inquiries from the repacking floor.
