Scholarshelf partners with Alaska schools to build RTI and MTSS solutions.

Background
Alaska schools struggle with consistent data tracking and coordinated interventions for Response to Intervention (RTI) and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), hindering timely student support.
Solution
Scholarshelf, a software development company, is reviving the Pickr application, a tool for streamlined RTI data collection, into a modern platform. Partnering with Alaska and west coast school leaders, Scholarshelf creates a clear, effective system for managing student interventions.
Details
We've been looking for just the right partner in the education space. Whenever I first talked to Damon Hargraves and Jethro Jones, we knew it was the match we wanted. They built Pickr as a tool to manage their RTI and MTSS for the schools they work with. It needed some updates to be more user-friendly and to better serve the needs of schools.
The application helps schools, teachers, and administrators manage the interventions for a student using a cycle-based system. To start, the administrator defines a cycle, usually a quarter, semester, or school year. This cycle will have a bunch of choices of courses that students can enroll in. For students that need intervention, the teacher or administrator enrolls them manually. They will be forced into the course, and be unable to unenroll themselves. Students that need no intervention either aren't given access to the program at all, or they are allowed to schedule courses relevant to what they want to learn.
This eliminates the possibility of students falling through the cracks during the RTI process. Students can enter into the program, view their courses, who else is in it with them, who their teacher is, and other relevant course information.
